CALENDARIO DEL DEXTRO ENERGY-CAMPEONATO DEL MUNDO DE TRIATLON 2010
La ITU (Unión Internacional de Triatlón) ha confirmado este jueves que Madrid será una de las 7 ciudades que albergarán pruebas del Dextro Energy-Campeonato del Mundo de Triatlón de 2010, que se disputará de abril a septiembre en tres continentes distintos. Por segundo año consecutivo, la mejor competición del mundo visitará la capital de España el 5 y 6 de junio del próximo año.
La experiencia organizativa de Madrid, gracias al apoyo del Ayuntamiento, ha sido uno de los puntos clave para repetir como sede del Mundial. De 2003 a 2008, la Casa de Campo fue escenario de sendas citas de la Copa del Mundo. Este año, por primera vez, Madrid fue incluida en el calendario del Dextro Energy-Campeonato del Mundo.
El circuito mundial se iniciará el 11 de abril en Sydney (Australia). El 8 y 9 de mayo visitará Seúl (Corea del Sur). La tercera parada será en Madrid. El 17 y 18 de julio viajará a Hamburgo (Alemania). Una semana después regresará al circuito donde en 2012 se disputarán los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres (Reino Unido). La penúltima prueba tendrá lugar en Kitzbühel (Austria) el 14 y 15 de agosto. Y, por último, la Gran Final será en Budapest (Hungría) el 11 y 12 de septiembre. Sydney, Seúl y Budapest se estrenan en el calendario.
“El Mundial va a visitar tres sedes olímpicas (Sydney, Seúl y Londres), así como algunas de las ciudades más importantes del mundo. Es un paso adelante en nuestro deporte”, ha declarado la madrileña Marisol Casado, presidenta de la ITU.
“Queremos dar las gracias a la ITU por la confianza que una vez más ha depositado en nosotros”, ha comentado Alicia García, directora ejecutiva de la prueba de Madrid. “Desde la FETRI pondremos todos nuestros medios, esfuerzo e ilusión para continuar con la exitosa trayectoria de todos estos años”.
Paul Coleman, director del Dextro Energy-Campeonato del Mundo de Triatlón, ha manifestado que “junto con nuestros socios Sportfive y Upsolut, estamos muy satisfechos por el éxito de la primera edición del circuito en 2009 y estamos convencidos de que vamos a presentar un calendario repleto de calidad en 2010”.
La Gran Final se celebrará en Budapest, donde no sólo se conocerán los campeones del mundo elite sino también los de las categorías Sub-23 y júnior. Asímismo, la capital húngara acogerá los Mundiales de Grupos de Edad y Paratriatlón.
